  • Use PocketDDD to Submit Session Feedback

    This weekend in addition to traditional paper based feedback forms, we have enabled the PocketDDD HTML5 app to help manage your day. The app allows you see all the information for the day along with providing feedback for sessions and the event.

    We will be mixing up our prize draws with some winners coming from users of this app as well as the traditional way by selecting from feedback forms  In order to be entered into the prize draw, when using PocketDDD, you will need to enter your
    Eventbrite order number into the app (You can get this by taking a look at your ticket at http://www.eventbrite.co.uk). It will then give you an "Event Score". You will gain points each time you provide feedback, give speaker ratings etc. Each point == an extra entry into the prize draw at the end of the day, and we have some great prizes!!

    The app works offline once downloaded so we would advise you to visit the site and bookmark it before the day. If you enter your
    Eventbrite order number as well, then you will be all set for the day. The app will go full screen, if you add it to your phone desktop. .P.S You will not get extra points for providing feedback for every session in a track. There is a maximum number of points for any given time slot :-)

  • DDD North 2013 Geek Dinner

    DDD North would like to invite you to join us at the Panda Oriental Buffet (http://yummyexpress.azurewebsites.net/restaurant/shop/panda/index.php - they use Windows Azure Websites - we had to use them! ;-)) in Sunderland for our Geek Dinner after DDD North 2013.

    This is a great location where you can get some great food after the drinks reception at the Sunderland Software Centre on Tavistock Place.  The Panda Oriental Buffet is within walking distance of the Sunderland Software Centre, city centre car parks and the Metro, rail and bus stations meaning it's well connected for your onward destinations.

    We'll be partaking in the Grand Buffet which costs £8.90 and due to size of our group we need to pay a service charge for our event.  Therefore we will be charging £10 per person (drinks are not included) to attend the Geek Dinner.  We will collect the money on the night at the restaurant so if you would make sure you have cash with you that would be great and make life so much easier!

    For your money you get to enjoy a huge buffet with over 80 varieties of different dishes.  There is a fully licenced bar on the premises.

    So why not join us to relax after what we hope to be another fantastic DDD Event! Especially as DDD North Sponsor - Tinamous - are putting some money behind the bar to kick proceedings off!  Make sure to stop by their stand at DDD North and thank @tinamoussteve!

  • Site Updates

    Since we have moved away from our old site to this new one we have been slowly rolling out updates.  We apologise for the delays, we've been doing our best to fit them around our other commitments.

    We are really concerned about performance issues and are tweaking daily at the core site and rolling out fixes, currently our biggest target are the Twitter widgets we're using as they are causing many issues.  We have however so far rolled out the following updates:

    • Speakers can now edit their profile by clicking on their Username and selecting Update Profile from the resulting management page;
    • Speakers can now edit their draft and published sessions from the management page too by using the Edit My Sessions link.  In addition logged in speakers will also see edit links next to their session on the Sessions page;
    • We have implemented pinned sites functionality for both Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 we hope you find them of use;
    • We have added an RSS Feed for all of the news coming from DDD North and are close to having a RSS feed for submitted published sessions too - we hope to roll this out in the next week.

    We thank you for your patience and rest assured we're working on the site as much as possible to add new content and features to enhance your DDD North experience.
